My personal story has a heavy share of pain, yet knowing that the sun still rises, the flowers still bloom, and stories still heal, keeps me writing and sharing my stories with kids. Seeing the wonder in children’s eyes and hearing their authentic responses as I read my books to groups, makes me want to write more for these wonderful minds. Doing author visits is still my favorite “job” for this very reason—connection with kids!
I’m a wife, mother, author, writing coach, speaker, founder & president of a nonprofit for single moms, former ELA teacher, a forever life-long learner, and lover of the entrepreneurial spirit & shopper of small businesses.
My take-aways from my journey thus far are: make the choices today that you’ll be happy with tomorrow; get busy doing good and you won’t have time to do harm; remember everything counts even when it can’t be counted or measured; learn something new even when it’s hard; be curious and humble enough to seek wise advice; see and bring out the best in others; let laughter and tears mingle; avoid comparison as it kills confidence and connection; and create something every day as it’s the highest form of thinking and brings the most joy…anything—a meal, a memory, a masterpiece, just create!
Thank you for sharing my books with the kids in your life. May they find hope, and see the good in life, themselves, and others.
Blessings from Above, Angela Henderson Smith
Take a deeper look at my Author Visit Packages: what they include & how to connect.
In 3rd grade, I noticed my daughter had quite an imagination and would write and tell wild, witty, and riddle-like stories. I attempted to encourage her in her endeavor of writing, but it wasn’t until she attended Mrs. Henderson Smith’s writing workshops that I felt she got the necessary attention to further enhance and thus encourage her hobby-like pursuit. I believe, one day, this pursuit could flourish into something beautiful.
We so enjoyed having Angela as the guest author/reader at one of our story times this summer at Town East Mall. Angela’s energy and presence was contagious; she kept all the children engaged throughout the entire story time. I know the children were inspired to hear a local author read one of her own books. We can’t wait to have her back to read for us again!
